Rescue Rex

ECC Assistant Director Michelle Peterson, Dispatcher Derica Lowe and Mayor Karl Dean meet up with Rescue Rex and his handler on Walk to School Day 2009.
The Emergency Communications District Board of Nashville and Davidson County has made it part of their mission with 9-1-1 to make sure young children understand when and how to call 9-1-1. The Rescue Rex program is a public awareness outreach effort that is offered free of charge to schools and related groups in Davidson County.
Along with a 30-minute musical show, featuring his 9-1-1 call taker sidekick, Rescue Rex leaves behind special coloring books so the children and their teachers can continue to learn about how to use 9-1-1. Coloring books are available in both English and Spanish.
For more information or to book Rex for a show, call the Rescue Rex hotline at 782-8151 or email rescuerex@dvl.com.
