FIRST Team
The Emergency Communications Center's Field Incident Response Situation Team (F.I.R.S.T.) was
established to assist our public safety partners in the field. Team
members respond to pre-planned events like parades, Titan's games,
warrant sweeps, as well as emergency call-outs like major fires, missing
person searches, Hazmat and rescue operations.
The team is trained in FEMA's Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS), which is routinely used in the field. Each member scribes information as it occurs, documenting who, when, where and the outcome. A running log is kept of all events that transpired during a particular incident. The members can diagram the scene and keep track of all units involved. The reports and logs are used for after action reports, critiques and training.
Each member has special training, a wealth of knowledge and resources available to assist command with any need.
