Future Planning Documents – Plans and Tools
In Metro Nashville/Davidson County, planning for future growth and development takes place on three levels:-
The General Plan, also known as "Concept 2010," provides the basic development philosophy for all of Davidson County. An electronic copy is available at no charge; we also offer a hard copy for a $4.00 fee.
Several Functional Plans support the General Plan:- Public Safety Plan (Hard copy only) - $5.00
- Housing Plan (Hard copy only) - $5.00, Electronic copy - Part A Part B
- Economic Development Plan (Hard copy only) - $5.00
- Historic Preservation Functional Plan (Hard copy only) - $5.00
- Parks and Recreation Plan – (Hard copy available from the Parks Department)
- Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan - $35.00
- Transportation Plan, "Mobility 2030" - electronic copy only
“Mobility 2030” is a partially updated version of the previous transportation and street plan, “Mobility 2010.” The transportation policies included in “Mobility 2030” were approved by the Planning Commission in September 2007; community meetings on an update to the Major and Collector Street Plan will begin this summer, with that document scheduled for completion in fall 2008.
- There are fourteen Community Plans – one
for each the communities within the County. Community Plans are updated
every seven to ten years. They include Land Use Policy that is used
to guide future subdivision and zone change decisions as well as decisions
on infrastructure investments.

- Within each Community Plan there may be one or more Detailed
Neighborhood Design Plans (DNDPs) that provide a greater
level of detailed guidance for future planning within a neighborhood.
