Urban Search and Rescue
Description:
Professional health and public safety specialists who support first responders at structural collapse and confined space rescue incidents.
Target Audience:
Engineers, chemists, rigging specialists, heavy equipment operators and others with specialized skills


Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Description:
The Community Emergency Response Team is a group of trained volunteers from the community who assist emergency response personnel during large-scale disasters. Citizens in the community are trained to cut off utilities, put out small fires, administer first aid, search for rescue victims, organize themselves and collect disaster intelligence to support first responder efforts. Volunteers must enroll in a 16-hour instructional course that is taught at a convenient location in the community.

Basic Terrorism Awareness
Description:
Basic terrorism awareness course that covers an array of topics, including identifying terrorism and weapons of mass destruction; reporting suspicious activity and forming an emergency plan.

Description:
The NETC Virtual Campus is the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) online training site. The program is powered by a learning management system that provides a variety of interactive Web-based courses, print materials and access to CD ROMS.

Counter Terrorism Operations Support (CTOS) Program at the Nevada Test Site

Description: The Counter Terrorism Operations Support (CTOS) Program at the Nevada Test Site oversees and conducts the training for emergency first responders. This training prepares the responders to take immediate, decisive action to prevent or mitigate terrorist use of radiological or nuclear weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Training courses and exercises conducted at the NTS and municipality-hosted locations provide state and local first responders with the tools they need to protect their communities from these threats. These courses include: WMD Radiological/Nuclear Awareness Train-the-Trainer, WMD Radiological/Nuclear Responder Operations, WMD Radiological/Nuclear Course for Hazardous Material Technicians, Detection Equipment for Law Enforcement Course, and Personal Radiation Detector Course.
