The Master Plan

The Metropolitan Parks and Greenways Master Plan was adopted in 2002, after a complete evaluation of the system, and a year of citizen input in all areas of Nashville. The plan recommended more than $260 million of improvements to the park system, including a number of new initiatives and eliminating deferred maintenance to existing parks and facilities. To date, we have built new community centers at Hadley, East, Coleman, Parkwood, and McFerrin parks, our Skate Park and renovated facilities at Wave Country, the Cumberland Pedestrian Bridge, and now have more than 36 miles of greenways open.
In the spring of 2008, Metro Parks solicited public input for an update of the plan. The update is scheduled for adoption later this year.
